Nail art has evolved in leaps and bounds over the last few years. It’s not just a couple of coats of varnish anymore, endless choice is available at your, fingertips.

French makeup artist Violette has quickly made a name for herself in the industry with her signature play on textures. Though she never had any formal beauty training, she started developing her recognizable, painterly style at a very young age while studying art at the École du Louvre. Now, however, she uses famous faces like those of actresses Demi Moore and Eva Mendes as her blank canvas.

“Weird Beauty”, is an espectacular project created by the Russian photographer Alexander Khokhlov, in collaboration with the makeup artist Valeriya Kutsan. This series of portraits show us a new focus on beauty through black and white images and try to enfatize the form and volume of the simplest and familiars things in life. On the models face.

Yoshio Kubo, like many Tokyo-based menswear designers this season, took inspiration from sports, but he infused the collection with his signature street-ready style. Models, some sporting clown makeup, mustaches curled at the edges or exaggerated pompadour hairstyles, walked a runway set up on an athletics track as DJs spun tracks with lots of thumping bass.
In this particular picture you can appreciate the Samurai japanese background on the hairstyle and the inked tattoo, which we think is kind of hot so we gave the whole style a #Sexy badge.

Rachel Antonoff loves nail art so much, she couldn’t decide on just one look. So, she had three. CND nail artists went so far as to create mini, scale model replicas of the gardens of Versailles on some models tips. Our fave look though was this graffiti-inspired one, which featured clear acrylic tips with phrases and names scrawled all over them — a beauty version of tagging.
Sporting bleached-out brows and hot-pink lids and lashes, models looked like the CDC’s worst nightmare. Couple that with caught-in-a-wind-tunnel hair and you’ve got the makings for an epically crazy look. But, for some reason, we just can’t look away. We like Charlotte Tilbury’s idea of painting lashes fuchsia, although we think we’d skip the electric rose liner. And with a few toned-down tweaks, Eugene Souleiman’s windswept updo could actually look quite soft and romantic.

Sometimes I’m not sure if the props should go to the photographer or the makeup artist for beauty photography. Considering that creating fashion and beauty imagery is a question of having the right team, I guess usually the props go to both. Reviewed here is the beauty work of German photographer Viktoria Stutz, who works mostly with two great makeup artist – Julia Sieckmann & Julia Heiermann.
A weird shoot you can’t stop admiring for its perfection.
“I’m not allowed to talk about that one,” said makeup artist Diane Kendal. “Alex wanted it to be a secret for the show.” The Alex in question is none other than king of minimalist futura, Alexander Wang. We’re backstage at his spring ’13 runway show, and the crop of models walking around with the “secret” beauty look are starting to multiply. We’re more than intrigued.
Here, the mystery unveiled: The 10 models that closed the show sported bleached-out, futuristic brows and high shimmer on the face, created with NARS Albatross highlighting blush. We suddenly understood all the hush-hush, as the models, sporting all-white ensembles, scattered out amongst the runway as the lights dimmed and spotlights circled them. Their outfits glowed in the dark, as they marched off stage, wrapping up another successful season for Wang.
All of the models sported either black or white tape down their parts, topping off a sleek, modern ponytail.
